Overview

Infrastructure Analyst is a hands-on operational position requiring technical knowledge and expertise to plan, implement and maintain Arcadia University's network, servers, storage and cloud infrastructure. The Infrastructure Analyst will work closely with the rest of the infrastructure team to implement the best security practices and standards such as NIST 800-171, 800-53, PCI DSS, FERPA, GLBA, HIPAA, etc. They will work with stakeholders, colleagues and vendors to ensure an understanding of the critical success factors, research and learn the technical aspects of the solution, service support, and identification of implementation elements. The incumbent will report to the Director of Infrastructure and work closely with other leaders in the Information Technology department. This position's responsibilities require a great deal of initiative, independent analysis, communication and problem solving.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Create and monitor the implementation of end-to-end integrated systems. Review new and existing system designs and make recommendations for improving or altering the systems.
  • Installs operating system software, patches, and upgrades within on premise and cloud environments (Microsoft, Linux, VMware).
  • Work closely with peers within IT and stakeholders across the institution to assess and document the effectiveness of the University's technology infrastructure.
  • Develop and execute test plans to check technical performance of infrastructure and report findings. Based on findings, make recommendations for improvement.
  • Lead development of policies and procedures for standardizing and optimizing systems.
  • Work closely with the Director of Infrastructure to negotiate and administer vendor and consultant contracts.
  • Assist in the design, installation, implementation, documentation, and maintenance of the University's disaster recovery processes.
  • Advocate tools, processes, and communications that support user experience for the University stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in peer networks, keep up to date in new and emerging technologies and ensure that Arcadia University is continually advancing its infrastructure architecture.
  • Assists with remediation efforts as a result of test findings and risk assessments.
  • Assists with software upgrades and installations.

 

Marginal Functions:

 

  • Other duties as assigned in support of the mission of the Office of Information Technology and the university.

 

 

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven experience developing strategic system architecture plans
  • Extensive experience in system and network creation and development
  • Solid understanding of information processing fundamentals and best practices ? Above-average analytical, conceptual and troubleshooting abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience conducting technology, trends, standards and products research
  • Solid track record in prioritizing and executing tasks when under extreme pressure
  • Proven experience identifying, analyzing and resolving system problems
  • Familiarity and expertise in a variety of programs
  • Excellent communication and training skills including ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
  • Excellent time-management
  • Ability to interface with various levels of management, peers, vendors and customers to achieve buy-in and support for initiatives
  • Strong technical skills to problem-solve a wide variety of integration, security, data extraction and mapping issues
  • Strong ability to learn new technologies and evaluate their implications within the legacy environment

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, appropriate certifications and/or equivalent combination of training and experience in broad and demanding support environments
  • 3 or more years of experience in technology services
