  • Overview

    International Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) Program at Arcadia University seeks a full-time Program Support Specialist to provide administrative support for all aspects of the Master's Degree program. The Program Support Specialist interacts with IPCR students, program faculty, the larger campus community, and off-campus constituents. Position requirements include: strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication/presentation skills; proficiency with MS Office products including Excel and publisher and/or photoshop; budget and record keeping skills; ability to multi-task and manage time. Experience with social media and marketing helpful. Experience in higher education and familiarity with conflict resolution and international relations preferred.  This opportunity would be ideal for someone who is interested in gaining experience in the field of higher education.  


    This is an interim position ending on May 31, 2019.  Possibility of continuation in the role depends on program needs for Academic Year 2019/2020.

    Essential Functions

    • Serve as primary first point of contact for the program, responding to calls and email inquiries from current or prospective students.
    • Maintain program budget and accounting procedures.
    • Track degree progress and ensure that all supporting paperwork for internships and study abroad placements are on file.
    • Track all applications for admission, working with the office of Enrollment Management to ensure all supporting materials are received, working with Director to update the status of all admissions decisions, and alerting applicants of their status.
    • Prepare information packets for incoming students, informational program flyers, form letters, publicity materials and all revisions to the Program Manual under supervision of Director.
    • Build employment/recruitment opportunities for IPCR graduates.
    • Hire and supervise GAs and work study students in conjunction with Director
    • Coordinate external communication including newsletter, social media and twitter accounts
    • Offer regular student support by addressing student questions related to registration and financial and technological issues and assisting them with contacting appropriate university offices.
    • Function as liaison to other Arcadia non-academic offices.
    • Coordinate arrangements for guest speakers and help in event planning.

    Marginal  Functions

    • Engage in student recruitment activities including open houses and graduate student fairs
    • Maintain updated course descriptions and offerings, and ensure that the online course catalogue is regularly updated.
    • Ensure that the program website reflects current offerings and work with University Relations, when appropriate, to make routine revisions under supervision of  Director
    • Develop extra-curricular calendars for each semester.
    • Maintain alumni information, strengthen the relationship between the program and alumni, and build network opportunities.



    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, written and oral communication and presentation skills
    • Proficiency with technology including, MS Office products including Excel
    • Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities
    • Willingly adapt to constantly changing circumstances while maintaining a university perspective. Engaging in continuous learning, adjusting the application of knowledge, skills and abilities while addressing new challenges as contextual realities change.
    • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
    • Budgeting and record keeping skills.
    • Ability to be an effective team player at all times
    • Ability to take initiative and work independently, when necessary


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Associates degree required.  Bachelor's degree preferred
    • 1-2 years' relevant work experience
    • Combination of education and experience will be considered.
