  • Overview

    The person in this position will assist the director in coordinating all aspects of the department's athletic communications office, including, but not limited to, statistical record-keeping, website maintenance, social media coordination, video webcasting services, photo/video editing, media relations oversight, event management, award nominations, staff/student-athlete profiles, and special event coordination.

    Essential Functions

    • Supports the director in providing oversight and direction of all athletic communications, media relations, and public relations for Athletics Department.

    • Serves as primary liaison between athletics staff/student-athletes and media outlets for assigned sports.

    • Produces electronic/printed content to promote the department's athletics programs, student-athletes, home athletic events, fundraising efforts, and community service initiatives.

    • Updates and maintains athletics website and historical archives/record books.

    • Oversees and provides content for all athletically-related social media platforms and accounts

    • Produces post-game interviews, video highlight packages, and information graphics.

    • Compiles and submits statistics and team results in accordance with guidelines set by NCAA, conference, and affiliated organizations.

    • Completes nomination process for weekly and yearly athletic and academic awards.

    • Helps manage and maintain content for all athletics photography.

    • Provides administrative support for special athletic events, including end-of-year athletics banquet and other programming.

    • Contributes to Athletic Hall of Fame programming, including direct involvement with the planning and selection committees.

    • Assists with general game-day event management for home athletic contests.

    • Assists in hiring, training, supervising, and managing payroll for student employees assigned to work in the athletic communications office.

    • Performs administrative tasks and completes requests for information as assigned.

    • Contributes to the overall success of the Athletics Division and sport program by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Computer competency required. Experience with Stat Crew software, Adobe Creative Suite, SIDEARM Sports content management system, various social media platforms, video webcasting services, and video editing programs strongly preferred.

    • Basic photography skills and photo editing knowledge strongly preferred.

    • Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel for games expected. Regular evening and weekend shifts required.

    • Excellent organizational, communication, writing, and leadership skills, whether dealing with individuals or groups, and an ability to work well with different constituents.

    • Ability to learn and apply University policies and procedures to ensure operational compliance and reliable judgement.

    • Ability to work on multiple projects under time constraints.

    • Ability to successfully complete a background check and additional required employee clearances.


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in athletic communications, sports management or related degree required; master's preferred.

    • Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required with prior experience in athletics or related field strongly preferred.


    Other Requirements:

    • Valid driver's license preferred.

    • Current CPR, AED, and first aid certifications required. Training and recertification can be provided if necessary.

    • Compliance with NCAA Division III rules and regulations required.
