    Under the leadership of the Director Application Support, the Senior Programmer Analyst supports the University's programming needs. He/She provides technical as well as functional support to the end-user community. He/She possesses a solid, demonstrable knowledge of standard university business processes, web and application development, database architecture, database reporting tools, and problem-solving skills to determine root cause analysis.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions



    • Manage, configure, maintain and trouble shoot enterprise applications

    • Work with users and departments to re-engineer business processes

    • Implement standards, procedures, and controls to ensure the security, reliability, and availability of enterprise applications

    • Develop database data warehouse integrations for sharing data among systems based on high quality, streamlined, reusable code

    • Develop reports for the end-user community

    • Create and support integrations, enhancements and utilities for departments and end users, without assistance

    • Manage and support web single-sign-on architectures

    • Develop ad hoc scripts/programs/utilities to automate manual tasks

    • Document key information about applications and end-user business processes in online documentation repository

    • Manage work and tasks adhering to structured project management and change management methodology and quality principles

    • Collaboratively shares knowledge and skills


     


    Marginal Functions



    • Help to troubleshoot access & server issues

    • Provide after-hours support when required for planned or unplanned outages

    • Support the Information Technology Department with any other deparment initiatives in support of the department's missions.

    Qualifications

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


     



    • Ability to establish excellent working relationships with the end-user community

    • Excellent communication skills including ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users

    • Ability to work independently with limited direction

    • Ability to troubleshoot and fix problems without assistance

    • Proficient in planning and carrying out enterprise application upgrades, understanding of enterprise databases and applications including the software development life cycle and application versions

    • Ability to estimate resource use in project management

    • Excellent time-management of development and support work

    • Strong capabilities in administering, creating, modifying, and upgrading SQL Server databases

    • Demonstrate the ability and desire to work cooperatively with others and be a team player

    • Ability to collaborate across different organizations, locally and globally

    • Recognizing the need for, and implementing, re-engineered business processes

    • Good understanding of web load balancing applications

    • Strong use of SQLServer Reporting Services (SSRS)

    • Strong use of SQLServer Integration Services (SSIS)

    • Excellent programming skills in T-SQL, .NET, PHP, JavaScript, CSS, or similar

    • Experience with Web Content Management Systems, AJAX, XML, Drupal and Web Services technologies

    • Good understanding of network architecture (servers, switches, firewalls, DNS, etc.)

    • Good understanding of Active Directory objects and CAS, Shibboleth or similar


    Preferred Qualifications:



    • Experience in higher education is highly desired

    • Experience in the following applications or similar is highly desirable: ERP system (Ellucian PowerCAMPUS), Finance system (MS Dynamics GP), Payroll (JetPay), Learning Management System (Canvas), Starrez, Google, Data Service, Hobsons, Salesforce, Handshake

    • Relevant professional certifications

    • An interest to learn new technology and work out of your technical comfort zone

    • Preference for Agile training


     


    Minimum Qualifications:



    • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate IT discipline preferred

    • At least 5- 7 years of SQL enterprise application development
