  • Overview

    Social media communication is a dynamic and critical area for The College of Global Studies at Arcadia University and represents a vital method of reaching our key target audience of students – it increasingly is also a key way for us to connect with parents, partners and faculty. This position will lead The College communications in this area while working as part of the Marketing department andreporting to the Marketing Communications Director. The position will help craft and implement a coherent and effective social media policy and strategy for The College.

    Specifically, the role will drive content generation, execution and analytics of student and college blogs and social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat. These efforts will be coordinated with other recruitment and marketing initiatives and be used to build brand awareness, communicate effectively with our target audience and to monitor competitor and best practice activity.

    Essential Functions:


    Social Media Outreach, Implementation and Analytics

    Coordinate and execute the social media outreach efforts of The College across different platforms in support of both recruitment and marketing strategies and in-countrystudent communication. This includes the use of analytics and behavior tracking to develop key indicators to set benchmarks, gauge success and drive action. Tools include but are not limited to: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat. This includes analytics; research into best practice and competitor activity; use of CRM and Big Tree website editing tools, contributions of social feeds into in-house platforms such as Passport 2.0; and management of student workers as related to social media, where needed. This also includes social media policy review and implementation.


    Global Social Media Team Coordination
    Co-ordinate global team of social media representatives from around the world to enhance strategies, share content, share best practice, monitor competitor behavior and leverage each other’s strengths. This includes reviewing overseas activity forbrand compatibility re image, tone, language & content. Ensure regular recorded meetings and the use of MyTCGS discussion space. In coordination with the Marketing Communications Director, this position will also develop and set expectations for each member of the team along with success evaluation practices and benchmarks for the College’s social media efforts to compare them with competitor efforts and best practice.


    Social Media Advertising, Promotion, and Recruitment Support
    Work with Director and AVP on social media advertising strategies, in terms of analytics, platform success, content creation, costing and targeting. Also working with the marketing, student outreach/services teams to drive promotional activity and support recruitment drives.


    Social Media Project Implementation, including Blogs
    Coordination of Student Blog Initiative through three recruitment cycles per year with 15-20 students per cycle. This includes email marketing to recruit, student communication, blog set up, editing, vetting and further promotional usage


    Marginal Functions:

    *Proofreading, writing & editing of all marketing materials such as The College’s news blog, center blogs, catalogues, email marketing campaigns, website, other publications, advertising and materials.
    *General Assistance to Marketing team: Merchandise administration; develop relationships with external vendors for purchasing and to research product options; shipping and storage control; fair attendance and support.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


    • Proficient in MS Office, Google Analytics, and back end website editing – Big Tree or Drupal. Adobe suite and CRM experience a plus.
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills, along with a natural enthusiasm for social media.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree (study abroad a bonus)
    • Experience working in a marketing department focused on Social Media, digital marketing strategies and execution: 3 years minimum
    • Experience and knowledge of social media platforms and how to track their usage while working in a marketing communications team: 2 years minimum. (Higher Education experience a bonus)

    Other Requirements: (e.g., certificates, license required)

    • Google certificates in SEO, Social media, google analytics, etc. a plus
