Athletic Trainer (part-time)

Regular Staff Part-Time


The person in this position will assist the Head Athletic Trainer and two full-time athletic trainers in overseeing all athletic training services that support varsity sports at the university. Specifically, the individual will provide emergency response, injury evaluation, rehabilitative programs, and documentation of care for athletically-related activities involving student-athletes.

Essential Functions

  • Assists in overseeing all aspects of the department's athletic training services and facilities.
  • Provides medical coverage for home varsity events and practices as assigned.
  • Provides emergency response, injury evaluation, rehabilitative programs, and documentation of care for athletically-related activities involving student-athletes.
  • Oversees proper medical clearances for student-athletes at the beginning of each academic year/term, including collection of appropriate medical forms and compliance with NCAA regulations.
  • Works directly with health insurance companies for student-athletes and Arcadia's health insurance provider to provide solutions to insurance-related questions. Assists in filing documents for injury claims.
  • Communicates with team physician as needed to coordinate off-campus appointments, student-athlete evaluation, rehabilitation, and clearance.
  • Communicates directly with coaching staff members to keep them apprised of athletic injuries and rehabilitation.
  • Works in conjunction with the strength and conditioning coach to aid in the physical development and recovery of student-athletes.
  • Helps supervise graduate/undergraduate student staff to assist with athletic training services and room operations.
  • Assists in determining if environmental conditions are safe for intercollegiate competition and practices.
  • Monitors the condition of athletic training equipment and facilities. Submit requests for repair, maintenance, and improvement as needed.
  • Assists in inventorying and purchasing equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains required national certification, state licensure, and continuing education units by National Athletic Trainers' Association.
  • Monitors health, wellness, and safety of team members.
  • Engages with key university staff and offices as necessary for matters related to student-athlete health, safety, and well-being.
  • Performs administrative tasks and completes requests for information as assigned.

  • Contributes to a positive work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the Athletics Department by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Received: Position reports to the Head Athletic Trainer.

Given: Supervises student interns and undergraduate/graduate student employees.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Previous athletic training experience at collegiate level strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule (early mornings, nights, and weekends) and travel for games expected.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills, whether dealing with individuals or groups, and an ability to work well with different constituents.
  • Ability to learn and apply University policies and procedures to ensure operational compliance and reliable judgement.
  • Ability to successfully complete a background check, motor vehicle check, and drug test.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in athletic training or related field required.
  • Master's degree in athletic training or related field strongly preferred.
  • NATA BOC certification required.
  • Must be able to obtain Pennsylvania state athletic training license immediately.


Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Current CPR, AED, and first aid certifications required.
  • Compliance with NCAA Division III and athletic conference rules and regulations required.
