Overview

Under the leadership of the Director of Infrastructure and User Services, the Manager of Infrastructures and User Services provides management and technical expertise for the Infrastructure Technology team, including: User Services; Networks and Systems; and Network Engineering.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Ability to establish excellent working relationships with the end-user community
  • Assists with the selection, implementation, and management of all enterprise-wide infrastructure resources.
  • Develops and implements standards, policies, procedures, documentation, and controls to ensure the security, reliability, and availability of all enterprise-wide infrastructure resources
  • Manages contracts with emphasis on SOWs, SLAs, budgets
  • Assists in the development and implementation the operational plans needed to successfully execute the IT Strategic Plan
  • Conducts capacity planning for future Arcadia growth
  • Provides leadership and vision in the planning and implementation of new technologies to enhance existing systems and improve end-user business processes
  • Establishes and maintains good working relationships with appropriate vendors
  • Supports campus users of IT resources
  • Manages the University's email systems
  • Develops, implements and communicates a system adequate to continually replace and enhance all IT resources and services including: PCs; switches; appliances; servers; software; maintenance and support contracts; Internet; and transport.
  • Schedules regular communication/coordination with various departments in the campus community
  • Stays current with new technologies and vendor offerings
  • Takes advantage of cloud-based offerings
  • Manage work and tasks using online project management software

 

Marginal Functions

  • Provides level three support for User Support Services.
  • Assists Infrastructure group with overflow work when needed
  • Is available for evening and weekend coverage
  • Participates in on-call rotations.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Solid IT manager
  • Demonstrated experience in User Services, Networks and Systems, and Network Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience in IT procurement, bids, budgets, contract management
  • Familiarity with cloud-based offerings
  • Experience in strategic planning and tactical implementation for IT initiatives
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all campus constituencies
  • Ability to coach IT team members
  • Ability to function as part of a team
  • Ability to estimate resource use in project management
  • Ability to collaborate across different organizations, locally and globally
  • Proficient in planning and executing enterprise IT upgrades and implementations
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from regionally accredited College or University
  • Experience with a wide range of IT vendors and offerings
  • At least five years' professional experience in an enterprise network environment
  • At least two years' management experience within an IT environment Other Requirements: (e.g., certificates, license required)
  • Appropriate professional certifications
  • Experience in higher education is highly desired
  • Experience in working in a virtual environment that includes international teams is a plus
